Tyson & Mendes’ Bob Tyson Named RISE Innovator of The Year Finalist
Firm’s Strategic Managing Partner Recognized for Launching Innovative Insurtech Company, Schaefer City Technologies
SAN DIEGO (April 30, 2024) – Nationwide insurance defense and civil litigation firm Tyson & Mendes
LLP’s Strategic Managing Partner Bob Tyson has been named a finalist for the 2024
RISE Innovator of the Year Award. Tyson is being recognized for founding Schaefer City
Technologies, LLC, a revolutionary Insurtech company whose flagship AI SaaS product,
NaVel™, is the first early risk identification technology to alert claims professionals of a
potential Nuclear Verdict® – a damages award of $10 million or more – before it happens.
In 2023, Tyson founded and launched Schaefer City Technologies and introduced its first
product, NaVel™. Short for “Nuclear Verdict® Exposure Likelihood,” NaVel™ applies a
patent-pending AI algorithm developed by researchers at Villanova University who analyzed
millions of data points across tens-of-thousands of cases that resulted in Nuclear Verdicts®.
NaVel™ provides an ever-updating predictive score in real time throughout the life of a claim to
alert claims professionals to the probability of Nuclear Verdicts® lurking in their live claim files,
so they are better prepared to address them before they have the opportunity to reach the
courtroom.
“Thank you to RISE for this recognition and congratulations to my fellow nominees. Schaefer
City Technologies and Navel™ were created to answer the #1 question we’ve received from
thousands of insurance professionals over the years, that is – ‘How do I spot a Nuclear Verdict®
on my desk before it happens?’ This early-warning system will help insurance companies save
billions of dollars,” said Tyson.
RISE, a national organization for insurance professionals, says it recognizes its Innovator of the Year award finalists
for making “significant contributions to advancing innovation in insurance, whether through groundbreaking strategies,
pioneering technologies, or transformative projects. Their visionary leadership and dedication to driving positive change
have had a profound impact on the industry as a whole.”
The winner of the Innovator of the Year award will be announced at the 2024 RISE Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, June 18-20th.
Tyson currently serves as the Chief Business Development Officer for Schaefer City Technologies and is the author of the #1 best-selling,
first book written for the defense to limit exposure at trial, "Nuclear Verdicts®: Defending Justice for All."
